Halloween Costumes

One of the first thoughts after we found out we were having twins was about the kiddos Halloween costumes...no it wasn't the first thought! ha!:) But as soon as we knew we would have 3 kids at Halloween we started to brainstorm a great idea! :)

The Cat In The Hat and Thing 1 and Thing 2!

TJH actually enjoys watching The Cat In The Hat on PBS and the girls were so little at Halloween we didn't need anything to detail oriented for them. And as soon as we came up with the idea I knew I wanted the costumes to be made by us! My mom helped us a lot with them...and this is a big deal...she doesn't enjoy making costumes. But I think she enjoyed making these! :)

The first thing we did was dye the girls shirts....

Looks gross but they came out so nice! :) We did have to dye them twice for the right color.

Then we started on the tutus. Super easy and fun to make!

My mom made Tuck's cat shirt...black shirt and then sewed on fur on the tummy and made a tail!

The Mr. helped with the tutus!

My mom taught me how to make curly bows! Super easy! Take ribbon and put it on wooden dowels and then bake it for 20-30 minutes!

We used the blue headbands to make it look more blue like the hair on Thing 1 and Thing 2!

Girls shirts dyed and Tuck's cat shirt ready to go!

Next we needed the Thing 1 and Thing 2 iron ons! The Mr. found the image for us and then we printed it on iron-on paper and there it was!
(we wrapped the tutus up so they wouldn't get messed up in the closet)

We ordered Tucker's hat and bow tie...it was actually a package deal and came with the white gloves but he didn't want to wear them. And we ordered the girls leg warmers. But other than those 3 items we made the rest!

It was a blast making the kids costumes! Thanks Mom and Mr. for all your help! :)

Now onto next years! :)
