Good Bye Fayette

So Eric and I had to say good-bye to our FAYETTE tags today.

We are officially CLARKE county residents...we got a little teary-eyed unscrewing our tags outside the tag office today.

I guess this is a true sign that we are becoming "grown-ups".

O and today is my Dad's 50th birthday...he's old! haha! He informed me that 50 is the new 30! :)

Happy Birthday Daddy!

Snobs

How old do I look? Do I look my age?

My mom always tells me I should appreciate that people think I'm younger than I am...but today I DIDN'T!

I went to the Oconee County Sub training. I need to have this as a back up for when my nannying job ends.

I turn my paperwork in and head to the classroom. There are about 10-15 people in the room and there is a teacher in there. She looked like she was in her late 50's early 60's. (She later told us she was a retired principal) I find a seat and start getting settled in. The teacher then makes an announcement to sign up for our fingerprinting and if you're certified to sign up between 10 and 12. So I head to the front of the classroom and start to sign my name. Then in a HORRIBLY RUDE voice I hear the teacher say "Are YOU certified??" I look up and see she is talking to me. I respond with "Yes Mam." She then asks again..."Are you REALLY certified??" I add, "Yes mam. I am." I'm trying to be very nice but her rudeness is making it very hard to respond with respect.

I start to return to my seat and she asks me again. I then pull out my certificate and show it to her...she then responds with "Well, I guess you are." I sit down and breathe big in and out four or five times.

So the class begins...and within 10 minutes I start to become very frustrated because she is going over basic rules of subbing...and I'm not trying to be rude but I've babysat since I was 10 and have had 4 semesters of student teaching, ending with a full-time internship in a classroom. But the good Lord was looking out for me, she releases the "certified" people about 2 minutes after I begin to become frustrated.

She tells us to change the time to an hour earlier on the fingerprint sign up sheet. So again I head to the front to change my name and this lady CALLS me out AGAIN. At this point I am MAD. She asks again, "Umm...are you certified?" I again answer with, "Yes mam, I am. I graduated in December and I am certified to teach in Georgia."

Do I not look like I'm not smart enough? Do I look as though I should still be in school? Do I not look like a teacher?

Oconee County is filled with SNOBS. No other word for them. I've never met so many RUDE people from one area. I'm from a VERY prominent part of Georgia and we don't' act like that! (Or at least the people I surround myself with.)

I will try my VERY hardest not to have to apply to Oconee County again...Clarke County here I come.

FOUR

Okay so I have a bunch of wonderful friends! You all know who you are. And I love each one of you but this entry is about the FOUR!

Who can say that you have a group of friends that ALWAYS get along? Who can say that the FOUR of you do almost everything together? Who can say that the FOUR of you are still friends even after college? Who can say that even your spouse/fiance/boyfriend all get along?

Well I have these three best friends. And your probably wondering 3 best friends? Why, yes! Three best friends. Lauren. Lexie. Hannah. They know EVERYTHING about me. Which some they might not want to know! Haha. But these girls are everything to me. They know what to do when I'm sad. They know how to make me smile. They know how to listen. They know how to keep secrets. They know how to have fun. They get me. They get my crazy husband. :)

We all met when we first joined our sorority. And have been friends ever since. Not just two of us or three of us but ALL FOUR. We all live far apart now and can't run to each others rooms, but we talk almost everyday. We know what's going on in each others lives. We are always there for each other.

I am so lucky. Some people go through life with one best friend...but I have three. I'm so proud of them. They are such an important part of my life. They were there for me on the most important day in my life so far...my wedding day. :)

So here's to Lauren, Lexie and Hannah...the FOUR will never end. I know I will die with the three of you being my best friends. I love that. (Not the dying part) I love you all. Here's the years to come!!

THE FOUR FOREVER!

Busy Bees

Hello friends!

Eric and I have been so busy setting up, fixing, painting, and getting our new home ready! We are falling more in love with it as the days go by.

Friday night at like 8pm we decided to head to PTC to get the trailer and some treasures from my mom's storage unit. Saturday morning we got up early and headed to the storage unit to pick up some very special items for our house! My great-grandmother passed away about 10 years ago and left her entire estate to my mom--it was beautiful stuff! Well it all can't fit into my Mom's townhouse so she let us have/use some of the special items! We filled the whole trailer and Explorer up! We unloaded it all Saturday night into the house.
Sunday we headed to Lowes...such a married thing to do! :) We got paint and some other items needed to start doing some things around the house! We painted a room--we will tell what room and what color later...we are surprising some people! :) And the rest of the day was taking loads from the apartment to the house.
Monday I had off so I did some more things around the new house! We have a fire place that is real--so we have had wonderful fires all weekend! And have already had people over for dinner--haha! Eric made dinner tonight while I was working for two of his buddies who have been helping us move.

So I have a new obsession that is probably old to some of you folks! PLANET EARTH!! Eric and my sister Kendall always talk about how awesome it is. So Friday while we were eating dinner Eric was like let's watch one...well now I'm hooked! I've only watched like 4 now and I'm totally obsessed and want to watch all of them but can't find the time now with all the moving.

I will be posting pictures soon of the house as we go along! :)

Hershey House :)

Dear Readers:
Here is me and Eric's new home! We are so excited!
We actually got the keys today!!
The house was built in 1950...so we are going with that theme inside! 50's retro!
Our sweet landlord said we can paint the walls how ever we would like! So my kitchen will be pink black and white! And we are going to paint the kitchen to match my PINK Kitchen Aid Mixer and all the other pink stuff we have! :) Eric said that's fine! :)
We went thrift store shopping today for some cute items. :)
My Mommie has already said she would help me make curtains!
We are so excited!
As soon as we starting setting up inside I'll post more pictures!
Welcome Home!
Love,
The Hammarlunds

PERFECT House!

Eric and I found our first house!!! (We are not buying yet.)

Sunday afternoon Eric and I went house hunting around Athens! It was such a great afternoon and towards the end of our afternoon we found this house. We parked in the driveway and walked up and looked inside the windows. At first sight I was so excited, but Eric was like I don't know. The outside looked purple(the sun was setting though). So I called the number and a woman answered. I asked her about the house and we set up an appointment. I was so thrilled but Eric kept saying there may be something better.

So last night we met with the sweet woman at the house. We walked in and just knew it! It's the PERFECT first house! Perfect size, perfect kitchen, perfect yard! And perfect price for us! :)

We go and sign our lease on Friday! I'm so excited! I thought it would take us forever to find a house that was good for us for right now...but I was wrong...God answered a prayer for us in the perfect time!

I'll take some pictures Friday and post them! :)

P.S. I asked the lady about the color of the outside of the house...it's not purple. She said she took a Hershey Kiss to the paint shop and asked for that color! So we are calling our new home the Hershey House! :)

Mom Time! :)

Hello!

Today was Day One with the Johnstons! It was absolutely wonderful! I don't mind at all spending my afternoons with the sweetest kids! (I'll just use initials for the kids names.) NC(5 years old) and I played American Girls after I picked her up from pre-school. When S(10years old) and C(7 years old) got home it was homework and dinner time! See, the kids have to be fed dinner basically as soon as they walk in the door from school because they are involved in so many activities in the evening. M(12 years old) gets home last and then it's time to start taking the kids to their activities. It's like I'm playing Mom but not going through the hours of labor. :)

When I got home this evening I had a really yummy dinner prepared by my sweet husband!

So Eric and I went house hunting yesterday! It was such a fun afternoon! Looking for our next place to live in a real house is so exciting!! We have a couple appointments this week to look at some of the houses we found. I can't wait to have a cute little house to come to everyday with my sweet husband and we can get our sweet Lucy back! We miss her so much!

Much love to all my blogger readers! :)

Job+Weekend with Husband=Happy Girl!

Hello friends! I just wanted to make sure everyone knows I'm okay!! I was sad the other day...but not anymore!
I got a job!! Not so much teaching...but something I enjoy doing! I'm nannying for a family of FOUR! It's actually funny how I came upon this job. My sweet best friend Lexie had this job for one week but then got a BIG GIRL job! So I got the nannying job! The mom of the four children is out of town for a period of time that is undefined yet. Her mother had a lung transplant on Tuesday...it was a genetic disorder which caused her to need a new lung. They are not sure how long the recovery will be, but the mom will be with her mother the entire time! (Which I would do the same!) So I'm helping with the children...the Dad will be there but he is a working man! He owns his own business and is not used to running the children around! There are four children...12, 10,7, and 5! And all of them are involved in at least 2 extracurricular activities...sounds like my family! So yay! I have a job that I'll enjoy doing until I can get the job I've been praying for!

Eric and I have been spending the weekend together and I love it! We are not used to weekends that don't have a packed agenda! We got to walk around Books-A-Million and Target as long as we wanted! We got to eat lunch and talk as long as we wanted! It's been wonderful!

My sweet husband bought me some new running kicks too! And they are doing wonders for my running. :)

Eric and I went to give blood today...Eric does this every 58 days but he invited me today! But I was so sad when leaving because my iron count was too low to give blood. But they told me to come back in February and to take some iron pills and I'll be good to go. I even got a sticker that said "Be Nice to Me...I TRIED To Give Blood Today!".

Well I'm going to jump in the shower and enjoy a Saturday night dinner with my sweet husband!

Missing College...

Okay so today was the first day since I graduated almost a month ago that I got really sad.

Today is the first day of classes at West Georgia...and I'm sitting at home with nothing to do. I've never had nothing to do...it's so weird and I don't like it. I miss the days of getting up at the crack of dawn for class, having lunch, going to work, working out, running errands around Carrollton and coming home to the sorority hall filled with my best friends! I miss studying and doing projects. I miss having tons of sorority meetings. Yes, you may think I'm weird for missing all of this...but it was my life for the past 5 years and now I feel like I don't have anything to do. I miss never having a break and having jammed packed days and weekends. Now I have this degree and nothing to do. Seems so backwards.

I never thought I would be the person to graduate and not have a job lined up. I never thought I would be applying for jobs that don't even required a high school diploma. It's very sad to me to think that I worked my butt off to get a degree and can't even work. I know it's the economy and all of that and the time of year. And "O Lindsay Ann, you'll find the PERFECT job"...well I would like that "perfect" job now. I know God is in control but I'm not so sure why He has this plan for me. I'll know one day.

I'm sorry if this is a depressing post...I'm just venting and hoping to find some answers.
