Turkey FUN!

We had alot of fun a couple weeks ago in my classroom! I may teach 5th grade but I love to do ELEMENTARY things!
Our unit in Writing for this quarter is Informational Writing, so the 5th grade is doing part of this unit in a very fun way!
We made Turkeys and Turkey Journals!
First, they created their very own turkey out of pine cones, feathers, eyes and pipe cleaners for feet!

Here is J with his turkey!

Then they created their very own journal! Colored a turkey and put it together!

Another turkey that lives in our classroom!

Girls hard at work creating their new friends!

In their turkey journal, they have to inform their turkey about different things. So, every morning when they come in there is a topic on the board for them to write about. For example: Inform your Turkey about your family, Inform your Turkey about the four seasons, Inform your turkey about your school, Inform your turkey about your favorite food. These are just a few of the topics they must inform their Turkey about until we leave for Thanksgiving break!
They are really enjoying this writing!
And our Turkeys live on our desk all day!
