We flew into Memphis early last Thursday morning. We flew in with my sweet MIL and her sister which is Aunt B and of course TJH! Tuck did amazing on the plane! He sat with his GMama(MIL) and the Mr. and did great! After arriving we headed to the Mr.'s uncle and aunts house. They have five children, three boys and then two girls. The oldest girl, C, was getting married so we came in town to help celebrate! Everyone got jobs and got started working on Thursday. It was fun day! The Mr. and I helped with the programs, the MIL and Aunt B and Uncle R all went and did a bunch of errands. I love seeing my MIL and her siblings together...first of all they are HILARIOUS and second they don't all get to be together very often but when they do you would never know it had been a while.
Tuck found of their grandbabies toys at their house and played.
And had his first experience with a Slinky!
The other exciting part of our trip was that we got to see and stay with our dear friend A and L. The Mr. has known L since they were very young. And I've known L since middle school. We were so excited to see their new house, meet their sweet pup and of course spend time with them. On our way to go to their house on Thursday we saw this awful house fire. It was so crazy.
The Mr. and I had never been that close to a house fire. We could feel the heat through our car windows. It was so scary. It looked as though everyone got out safely.
Friday morning A and L had to work, but L was SO sweet to stock the fridge with yummy foods for us and we just hung out at their house. The Mr. had some school work to do and we wanted T to get some good rest.
We of course had to watch Elmo. :)
Tuck LOVES A and L's dog Gus. He's the most precious thing ever! L took him to doggie day care on Friday and when we went to get in the car, Tucker was looking for Gus through the fence.
Friday afternoon we got out and tried some of Memphis famous places. First stop was Gus's...and o my goodness it was so YUMMY! A good work friend of mine used to live in Memphis and she told me to get the best fried chicken we needed to go to Gus's. So we did. :)
And after Gus's we headed over to Gibson's. The Mr. had seen Gibson's on the Food Network and it was National Donut Day so of course we had to give it a try! And o my goodness they were good! :)
The Mr's two uncles joined us for lunch and donuts. Tucker LOVED being around them. He had been with Uncle R on Thursday but got to meet Uncle D on Friday and he thought both of them were so cool!
After lunch we wanted Tuck to releases some energy. So we headed to the mall for him to walk around. He walked the entire mall and had a blast!
He loved carrying our salted caramels from Godiva for us. :)
Friday evening we headed to the rehearsal dinner. L was sweet enough to get a family photo for us.
Tuck was such a trooper having to sit in his infant carseat(he still can legally ride in it bc of weight but of course loves his big boy carseat) while we were in Memphis. Bringing his big boy carseat would have been way too much.
The MIL with all three of her siblings!:
MIL, Uncle D, Uncle R and Aunt B
Twinkie snuck in! :)
Saturday morning we got up and cooked L and A breakfast and hung out around their house. Then we headed over to L's parents house to play in their pool.
This is Gus...L and A's sweet doggie!
Saturday evening we attended the Mr's cousin's wedding! L and A watched Tuck for us, we knew we had left him in wonderful hands! :)
The wedding was so pretty and it was so fun to be with family.
Sunday morning we got up to do some of the famous Memphis things! L and A made us breakfast and then we headed out to do some really fun stuff! First stop was the Peabody Hotel! It's a very famous spot in Memphis and it was so cool to see! We got to see the famous ducks and their awesome house!
After the Peabody we headed to eat some local Memphis BBQ and boy was it amazing! We rolled home basically! :)
Later in the afternoon Tuck, the Mr. and A all played in the yard while L and I went to run some errands. We had to pick up some salted caramels and some things for dinner.
When we got back this is what the boys had gotten into:
We ended the weekend with some great grilled food...chicken and corn and some other yummy veggies. We loved our time with L and A! And of course Gus! We enjoyed staying in their BEAUTIFUL home and catching up with them.
But we also really enjoyed seeing family and being apart of the cousins wedding! What a wonderful summer weekend spent in Memphis!
